I was a four year senior at Canterbury and I just graduated this past May. I loved my experience at the school because it felt very personalized and I was able to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. Even after the pandemic hit and all classes were transferred online, I still felt that I was able to receive all of the help in my classes that I needed. Teachers were always available for extra help and they genuinely cared about my understanding of the material. On the athletic side of things, spring sports were unfortunately canceled but my team was still able to connect over zoom and even participate in a charity event together! Canterbury is an amazing place that made me feel connected to the community even when we were all separated.

My four years at Canterbury (class of 2013) were transformative and foundational. I would not be who I am or where I am today if not for my experience there. At Canterbury, I came to understand and participate in a true community that nurtures, supports, and promotes the well-being of all members. The school's five values of respect, honesty, compassion, spirituality, and self-reliance infuse each aspect of "life on the hill," from the classroom and dining hall to the playing fields and dorms, and become engrained in students. Reflecting on my Canterbury years, I am particularly grateful for the relationships I formed with the faculty and staff, who were my teachers, dorm parents, coaches, and continued mentors. These relationships offer unparalleled sources of guidance and support, both during the high school years and beyond. I am still in regular contact with my Canterbury advisor, be it exchanging life updates or offering advice on post-collegiate school and work opportunities.
Canterbury is a school that prioritizes values, education and family while focusing on individual student needs. My oldest daughter is a 2020 graduate, and while we missed out on the beautiful ceremony Canterbury is known for having, the school provided the seniors with exceptional care and attention making everyone (including the parents) feel valued and special. My other daughter is a rising sophomore at Canterbury, and having been accepted to other prep schools, she chose Canterbury for its tight knit community. The faculty, staff, and administration is focused, compassionate and responsible with every decision made. It's not just an excellent education on a beautiful campus; it really is a second home.
