I spent my entire high school career at Canandaigua Academy. I graduated from there in 2015 and my other three siblings have attended/are attending the school as well. The school had many social opportunities, something for everyone. They had a variety of clubs and sports, they also have a very good music program with several events throughout the year including the musical. The staff there welcomed you with open arms and made you feel as if you belonged. They were always there if you needed help in class or on assignments. They also made sure you were comfortable both in school and out of school. They made school fun by having special events throughout the year. There were several spirts weeks where the students could dress up and were hats to show school pride or whatever the wacky theme was. This school was a place of learning but also were life long friendships were made. Being a Canandaigua Brave is truly something to be proud of.
In this community, they strive to be inclusive to everyone. They have many mental health resources, LGBTQ+ resources, and everything else you can imagine.
There is a variety of activities and classes that you can be involved in. I personally am involved with many extracurricular activities, and I think that the teachers and staff really understand personal involvement and not pressuring students to join more clubs. Teachers always encourage students to join, but there is no pressure. There is little to no pressure to do anything. The way a student moves and interacts with the school is very driven by themself. There is a good balance in the school which makes it enjoyable.
