As much as I hated high school, I loved Camdenton. The teachers are dedicated, creative, kind, and hilarious. You are extremely likely to love a class you would otherwise despise just because of the teacher. There are counselors galore, although they are arbitrarily divided by career orientation. The students are overwhelmingly nice, at least for the large part. Additionally, while the school has the floor plan of an actual prison in Kansas, the arts department has attempted to reconcile this through a myriad of paintings and decorations. From what I remember, however, none of the paintings are actually on the walls. They are hung. That said, the food is fantastic, and the lunch ladies are sweet. Others will disagree, so take my words as you will. Great school spirit among teachers- abysmal among students. And that’s pretty much Camdenton. A pretty great school, all in all.
Before coming to Camdenton High School, I lived in a very small town in California that did not have very much funding for its education system. Here at Camdenton, the education is fantastic. The academic success that I have had since coming here is through the roof. I have been able to take many advanced classes that were not offered at my old schools. The teachers and staff here show their love everyday and everyone is very friendly!
For being in a rural area, Camdenton High School provides a multitude of opportunities for their students. There are several AP and IB classes for students to take, and from my experience, they're taught well. Afterschool programs offered here allow for students to gain skills that they might need for their future career, and I can attest to that, being involved in 4+ extracurriculars. Overall, this school readily prepares the students willing to put in the work. However, I wish there was more support for struggling students, and an emphasis on gifted counseling and education.
