Cambria Heights has given me a safe, loving, and fun learning environment. When the pandemic started, my teachers worked hard to get ready for online learning and adapted to keep that same environment for the students.
Going to Cambria Heights has helped be get ready for college. The teachers all care about their students and will personally help anyone. Although there is a lot of good, I would like to see a change in the treatment of different or unique students. And more safety precautions while our school is under construction.
I would like to see more support for those who have mental illnesses. I would also love to see more safe conditions in the school. Next, I would like to see more faculty support of students.
I am a junior at Cambria Heights High School. When I entered the school in 9th grade I have to admit that it was a let down. We went from the beautifully decorated halls of the middle school to the plain cream colored walls of the place my education now calls "home". This isn't that big of a deal because my high school is now undergoing a renovation, but I still feel disappointed when I walk through the doors every morning. Cambria Heights has a great selection of teachers and faculty. Many of the teachers love their jobs and care about the quality of the education that their students are receiving, but I would like to see a change in some of the teachers. I have a couple of classes during the day in which I am in charge of teaching myself the materials that I need to know because the teachers hand out packets instead of teaching. Cambria Heights has a supportive community and faculty, but there is also room for improvement in the atmosphere and connection with the students.
My experience at Cambria Heights Senior High School was full of learning, living and teaching moments. Everyday sticking to a schedule and taking classes that fit my intelligence level I was able to learn a lot not just about school but the people in my community. Throughout my four years of High School I was able to help others and myself. I grew up a lot since freshmen year. I used every resource I had to ensure my education was at its peak in order to prepare me for the college world I am about to enter. I participated in a wide variety of activities and took advantage of the clubs that were offered. I spent a few years tutoring as well, being a guide for those who were lost in a intellectual and emotional manner. I made the best of my time I had at this school and I wish all future students the best of luck in whatever they aspire to do!
Cambria heights is a well rounded school. The education i recieved has well prepared me for college next fall.
Cambria Heights High School involves a challenging academic course of study, a sufficient number of extracurricular activities and clubs, a great art and music program, and provides ample oppurtunities for students to look for colleges to attend when their high school career is finished.
People always ask, "If you could change what school you attended, would you?" I answer no! Of course my school has its pros and cons, but what school doesn't? Our academics are among the highest compared to the surrounding schools in our district. This is an accomplishment for everyone who attended our school, although we couldn't have done it without our outstanding teachers. Every teacher that works in our school is very dedicated and wants nothing more than their students to learn. High school is also about having fun and making memories and our teachers understand this. They push us to get our work done and to get the best grades we are capable of, along with having a little fun. There isn't much I would change about Cambria Heights, of course everyone complains about the little rules, like "no cell phones.” As I get older I've learned that they have only made these rules for our benefit. Overall Cambria Heights is a great school and I would recommend it to everyone!
I think overall, Cambria Heights is very safe. There has never been a major event where outside forces, such as police and a swat team were ever involved that I can recall. The school takes very good precautions in case of any of these situations happening. Bullying is not very prevalent at my school at all. The school nurse is available the entire day. There is nothing at this school tha makes me feel unsafe or overly cautious of potential harm.
I think an important factor in being happy at any school is what you make of what you have. A student must engage themselves in different activities or nothing will be fun. If a student goes to school and only does the bare minimum, the experience will be dull.
Along with any of school, not every staff member is perfect. But, in general, the staff goes above and beyond regarding their career. Many of the staff members are very passionate about their subject that they teach and make the topics interesting.
There are many extracurricular activities available such as: theatre, marching band, football, swimming, art, as well as many academic activities. Sports are very popular for participation, the music organizations are also popular. There are many students who are apart of various clubs and organizations, such as being in marching band and the swimming team.
My overall experience at this school was great. I was heavily involved in all of the arts programs including: the marching band, the school band, the school choir, the show choir, as well as the theatre and musical productions. This school has a very strong fine arts program as well as athletic programs and scholarly programs, there is a lot of emphasis on participating in extra curricular activities as well as advancing your education or getting vocational training depending on your career path. The guidance counselors listen to your preferences for your schedule as well as trying to fit you into as many of the classes you have chosen as possible. It is a small school so there is more opportunity for one on one interactions between the faculty and the students. I would definitely attend this school if I had the chance because it is located in a great community as well as having a great faculty team that I can trust with my education.
my overall experience was pretty good
the food has defiantly gotten better since I have started high school
the clothing rules are a little ridiculous, and some students get in trouble for inappropriate clothing and others dont
Some sports get better treatment then other sports. like are football team gets new everything and other sports their facilities are in bad shape
