Overall, I enjoyed my time at this school, the community was great and everyone was really involved in clubs, sports, and academics.
There are a lot of wealthy white people residing in Camas. There is not much representation for POC and I often found racism and racially insensitive comments to be more common among Camas students and residents than other places I have lived. The academics are fantastic however they are pretty challenging. I think Camas for the majority has great teachers who care a lot about their students and their well being. I also think Camas sets up students for success very well post high school.
I liked the community built at Camas High School. I was the Integrated Arts and Accademics preogram (IAA). We incorporated arts into our regular classes. We got to connect with all the students and teachers apart of the IAA program. I wish that they wouldhave kept funding that program because it helped so many students have a family if theirs was not there to support them. I wish they would provide more funding to art programs and other art classes.
I found Camas High School to be a very spirit-filled school. We are big in sports but not everyone is accepting. It can sometimes be a scary place to attend school. In my four years of attending, we had multiple instances occur wherein some students' presence was not welcome by other students.
I liked how it helped me so far get the right metabolite to be ready for college and it also allowed for me to understand some of the issues that I will encounter with. For example the teachers will not tolerate missing work just like a college professor wouldn’t either.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Camas High School. They value giving the students a well rounded experience through academics, athletics, and extracurriculars and all of the staff always want the best for the students.
I loved the school spirit that my school had. I had amazing teachers each year who students felt comfortable with, and I was able to talk about any issues I had. My counselor was also great and understanding.
Camas High School is a high tier school that makes you a student of discipline and efficiency. When compared with other schools, I believe that Camas High School is the best when it comes to preparing students for college! It has great teachers and great staff which create a safe environment where students may learn and succeed.
If you are a straight, white, male, cis-gendered, 4.0 student, football player, you will be fine. That said, like any high school in America, Camas has its ups and downs. I would give this school an overall rating of poor for many factors. The councilors and some of the administrators do absolutely nothing to help you when you need it the most. Their job is to help you succeed, but most of the time they aid in hindering your learning. The school, also highly lacks in diversity, not only represented in the student body but the faculty as well. We have maybe 2 Black employees out of the whole school faculty. This has led to further problems of them not doing what they should when it comes to racial injustices happening within the walls of Camas High School. Some of the friends you would make here can be amazing, but it is also one of the most toxic schools I have attended both socially and academically. Everyone and everything makes you feel as though you amount to nothing at all.
Camas high school provided me with many experiences and I am greatful to have been able to attend a school as good as this one
Very inclusive, a ton of clubs for every kind of student in regards to race, religion, LBGTQ, STEM, arts, travel and so much more.
Camas High School is a very big yet inviting group of people. One of my favorite things about my time there was you will see a new face every day!
As a student of Camas High School, I really like the variety of classes that are offered. We have a variety of subjects from calligraphy to economics. Additionally, our school also provide lots of clubs and athletics. One thing that our school can improve on is the cultural awareness. I would like to see more cultural clubs and have the teachers address the social problems in society today.
Camas High School has been a great school for the three years that I have attended. The goal of this school is inclusion and there are multiple projects going on at a time to make sure all students feel like they have a place at the school. All staff members are very supportive and helpful and I know that if I need help I have a bunch of people that would be willing to help me out.
For the most part, I enjoyed Camas High School. There were high expectations for the students, as well as the teachers. The one issue I have is that this school district is very concerned with their image. College is pushed on students. Plus, since it is a large school, it can be difficult to find close friends and make connections.
Overall, my experience at Camas High School was incredibly pleasant. We're fortunate in that we have very active parents, wonderful teachers, and well-funded programs. My only qualms are the lack of funding and community support for the arts and the extreme lack of diversity. The music, theatre, and arts programs are excellent at Camas, but I never experienced the same kind of support from the community or administration that sports got. Alongside that, Camas lacks diversity. As a student of color myself, I did not have a large community of fellow students of color. This definitely felt isolating at times. However, overall Camas is a wonderful place to spend your high school years. The school does a fantastic job of preparing you for post-graduation life, whatever that path may be.
I've been a student all through high school and I was very heavily involved in the performing arts programs at the school. I participated in band all four years, the school musical my junior and senior year, and Select Vocal Ensemble my senior year. 10/10 experience with the other students in those programs and wonderful direction from the instructors. I also took AP courses all four years and had a wonderful experience with all my teachers, AP and regular. Camas is very well staffed, the teachers are very good and they made the coursework understandable.
