CAM Academy is a great learning environment for both students adjusting from homeschool to a more public school as well as for students taking initiative in their learning. The teachers are very flexible and do their best to help students succeed. The homework and work load can be a little bit overwhelming at first but it is rigorous to set you up for success later in college and/or university. Creativity is encouraged in projects and hard work is recognized and incentivized. Nearly everyone is friendly and inclusive and it is a very warm environment compared to some other public schools; given that, I do wish there was a stricter discipline for some of the inappropriate remarks and racist, homophobic, and otherwise unacceptable jokes that hurt and discriminate against others. However, I found it to be an overall wonderful school and would highly recommend.
I am a student at CAM Academy, currently. I have been going to this school ever since third grade. That's four years now! CAM is good and the teachers teach great. You can tell they work hard and want you to have the best experience at CAM. Unlike other schools, when you ask an urgent or tricky question and want some help, the teachers will take their time to stop what they're doing and help you work out the problem you are struggling with. These people want you to be ready for college. There are little rules that come by, you must keep your grades mostly in the B's and A's section, every once in a while you get picked to take the lunch bins back to the classroom or clean tables. Not too bad. I suggest you go to CAM, there is no bullying and everyone there wants the best for you.
CAM is a really great school for those who want to learn how to work hard and be well prepared for college. It has wonderful teachers who encourage and support their students, and a rigorous but manageable curriculum. The school spirit overall is pretty good, and classes tend to become very tight-knit once they become upperclassmen. There are opportunities for leadership and community engagement for those who want it, and I’ve known plenty of students who manage clubs and academics at CAM as well as varsity sports at other local high schools. Most kids are very well prepared for running start by the time they hit junior year, and those who stay at CAM are provided with lots of AP options and prep for other college board exams. It’s a really great school with lots of character and spirit. It was a pleasure to go there. Highly recommend.
