The school is well kept and teachers and staff and kind and involved in students lives. However, administration does not listen to student complaints and certain areas of the school are closed off, making it a hike to get to a bathroom sometimes, especially in the basement. The student body has groups that can be pretty polarized, but there are many types of groups so it’s not difficult to “find your people.”
It is a great school. The school really tries to connect to the student with some of the nicest teachers and staff. They work there best everyday even with online learning. The school also tries to address current issues and to help students understand why the world is like that and how they can make it better.
I liked that it had course pathways for fields like engineering and medicine. Also, there was a technical school very close by where students could take classes during the day and get certified in different things. I did not like that even though we got a brand new school while I was there, we still had to go to trailers for some classes.
Overall, it's not a bad school. The building is nice, most of the teacher's are alright, and the education is pretty mediocre. Unfortunately, the staff seems to not care much for the students despite saying so. The policies they enact and what they tell students is solely based on making the school look better than it is. Essentially, if you have the option to go to a different school I would suggest you do. If not, the school is manageable and not the worst out there. Word of advice; don't eat their pizza.
Overall, Calvert High School has a great atmosphere. When it comes to student life, teachers are always there to support and give a helping hand. From clubs to sports, there is always max participation and excitement surrounding each activity. Bullying and other social problems are very minuscule, but when they do occur, they’re handled immediately. Test scores and academic levels are above average, service learning hours are always exceeded, and ultimately the community is always active in doing their part to help out. Calvert High School is the BEST school I have ever attended.
I like that most kids here get along but I would love to see more support for the performing arts especially theater
The teachers were pretty good at their job. The food was not and the political environment could be better.
I liked how I made new friends and the learning experience is fun. The food needs to be healthier and have better things for students to eat like choices.
My school is good but there is room for improvement. The class environment can be fun and the teachers are very thoughtful and helpful.
Calvert is an average high school. With every school, it’s what you make of it. If you get involved with sports, activities, etc. then you’ll have a great time.
My experience here was great. It was not without its ups and downs, as any high-school career would be, but Calvert is a lively place. The teachers care about you, and the opportunities here are unparalleled by any other school in the county.
The atmosphere is unlike no other school you will ever enter . The teachers and students welcome you from day 1 and it is like one big family.
The teachers are very nice and helpful to the students. My experience has been good. I have made a lot of friends; most of the students there are friendly.
I liked that Calvert High School was very accepting to all students most of the time. The special needs kids, the colorfully different personalities I met along the way were all accepted for who they were. I met so many great teachers. The mathematics and science departments of the school were immaculate some of the smartest teachers and students really could show their intelligence and flourish in this school. Overall the experience of sports was extremely rewarding. The rewards for being academically motivated and willing to learn were so sufficient. If you were willing to try, Calvert High School was willing to give you props for it.
I played football and baseball. I enjoyed making close friends. The Bio Med Program is great for an introduction to the medical field. The teachers are caring and want to see you do well. The football coach not only teaches football skills, but also how to show great character and to be a successful young man. The administration is very fair. There are many after school activities to get involved in at Calvert.
I like how most of the teachers were understanding and were willing to go above and beyond to help students in need. What i didn't like, however, was the lack of trust between staff and students. There was also many altercations between staff and students or between two students. What i did enjoy though was the amount of support between students at sporting events.
I would like to see more money going to various clubs outside of school. I think more clubs would be a great way to have students learn more about what they like.
