California Virtual Academy at Maricopa provides learners with the opportunity to learn at their own pace when they want and how they want. A common misconception with online school is that it is easier than traditional brick-and-mortar school. Online school is not for the weak-willed, however, as each student must push him or herself to meet deadlines, seek help, and attend classes.
Students who learn through the California Virtual Academy are subject to some of the most testing times of a school education. Opportunities abound in and out of school.
The academic value of this school is average. I would like to see more challenging material overall, more hands-on resources, and more requirements per course. There is a lot of lee-way as far as deadlines are concerned, and only the AP instructors provide constructive criticism on work that is useful for furthering the students' academic experience.

California Virtual Academy at Maricopa is a great public online school for students of all ages. This school offers many AP classes and has easy access to lessons, homework, and Class Connect Sessions. Teachers and counselors are always interacting with students and are also easy to access. Overall, my first year experience at CAVA has been great. One thing I would like to change or suggest is to add a drama elective or acting classes. I enjoy acting, but the school does not offer any drama courses as of now.
The best thing about choosing California Virtual Academies is the individualized learning plan you receive and they way your education is really tailored to you. I started the program in middle school and was able to finish junior college when I should have been graduating high school, because I was able to take courses faster and concurrently enroll. I loved every single teacher I had, they really care about you and your learning experience, and are excited to prepare you for your journey through college.
