From my experience at California High School, I felt the teachers genuinely care for students, and gave the students the best accurate information of what instructors in college expect from all students! And also help students prepare for future with testing and exams. Overall most teachers have a strong interest in helping students becoming more successful in their future, including teaching them important information such as; applying for jobs, How to speak in interviews, what to wear to interviews, how to search for the right colleges, etc. I believe teachers gave fair grading on the students progress and how well they turn in assignments on time! However, they may not be consistent on posting grades depending on how busy they are with grading and keeping track of future assignments. Finally, the teachers communicate very well with the students allowing 1on1 time after class or after school. Also, informing the students their expectations during class while giving them leisure to speak their opinions and thoughts during class lectures.
Review California High School
California High School is a good school. There are some really great teachers who actually care about your success and well-being. With recent racial problems, our school has created programs to allow students to safe and have the assurance that they are accepted. I would like to see the administration improve on the teacher and tenured selection. There are a couple teachers that are tenured, though they should not be. With certain teachers at this school, students have had many problems and serious complaints about them that have not been resolved. The administration does not seem to care about these issues or uses the excuse that these teachers are tenured so they cannot do anything about it. If this is actually the case, then I would like to see a more thorough selection process of tenured teachers.
I have been very impressed in all my four years at California High by the availability of academic support. National Honor Society tutoring and an approachable teaching staff make it very easy to find extra help with difficult homework.

The Leadership program alongside each individual school club provide limitless opportunities to meet new people and learn something new outside the classroom. I am a member of the Cal High Red Cross Club, and am working with Leadership right now to set up a school-wide campaign on Spread the Word to End the Word Day, on March 1.

I wish one critical characteristic of California High School was improved upon. I believe the student body places an emphasis on certain sports programs, like football and basketball, and shows little respect, even condescension, towards less popular sports like tennis. Extracurricular clubs like marching band are not given the same appreciation as the football team.
