CCS is an amazing school. My children have attended for eight years and are thriving. The teachers love the students and work to meet the needs of each individual student within the classroom. The school continues to increase the support given to students that have learning differences. The athletic programs provide variety, especially due to the thriving co-op with St. Phil. The administration seeks to guide students and staff to be academically excellent while learning from a Biblical perspective. Students that have graduated and attended college or university often report being very well prepared and grateful for the rigor of their classes. There is very little bullying in the school and the little that is present is dealt with promptly when brought to the attention of staff. No school is perfect, but CCS is a wonderful place to be and to have my children grow and learn.
Calhoun Christian is an amazing school. Students are challenged academically as well as spiritually by a loving staff. The small class sizes and Christ-centered classrooms lend themselves to godly,relationship-filled, learning environments. Students have opportunities to showcase and cultivate their talents (sports, performing arts, art, etc). Students are not only receiving quality education, they are also receiving a foundation of a Christian worldview, bringing everything back to Christ and His word. It is a school where everyone is family and support can be found in abundance.
The overall academics at the school is not difficult. I didn't put much effort into my classes and still passed with an A. Volleyball and basketball are really big here. Nobody seems to care much about the other sports. One problem that I see reoccurring every year is that the school tends to hire people that are connected to the school through family and friends. The children of those parents that all work together don't get watched as much at school and can get away with doing what they want. The middle school teachers are very helpful and kind until you are in eighth grade and then they don't care about your class anymore. There are problems with bullying and the classes are very divided into cliques. Since most of the kids have been there since elementary and all know each other, they are not the most welcoming to new kids.
