Cal Young Middle School Reviews

Cal Young Middle School is a school with a lot of potential. It's one of the better middle schools in the area, but some things could be improved. There's many leadership opportunities for students, a variety of interesting electives, and the staff is kind and attentive for the most part. However, only one language is offered (Spanish), there is only one sports team (track & field), the cafeteria food is unhealthy, and some students are very disrespectful. Despite it's drawbacks, Cal Young is a good school and is highly regarded, often compared to Roosevelt Middle School (considered the best middle school in Eugene, according to students).

It was not a good school for anyone there. I had horrific teachers who were clearly only there for the paycheck, and I met terrible bullies. My locker neighbor even sold weed out of her locker. Perhaps that is normal for Oregon, but it certainly isn't good. The only good parts of that school was its participation in OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) and my one English teacher who was actually qualified for her job.
