Transferred to this school after a bad freshman year at another high school and I do not regret my decision. The academic program and quality of education at Magnet is amazing. The environment here is open and you can be yourself and won’t be judged. The teachers here are really good and give engaging lessons. If you are into the academics and arts and want to be VERY well prepared for college, then this school is for you.
I liked the acceptance of the school and the ability of us to express ourselves with clothes due to the flexibility of dress code.
Pretty good school. Small population. around a thousand. No major sports like basketball or football, but they do have soccer, volleyball, and some more niche sports. teachers are pretty great, except a select few. The principal is nice. They do push college on to kids and try to prepare them. Counselors are pretty good. There are small boards in many of the classrooms and I would say that the science department is up to date on technology. I'm in the arts and there are talented students here. The music department is also wonderful. If you are more academically inclined, I would go to this school.
I am extremely lucky to be a Sophomore at this school; the social acceptance that is not determined by race, interest, dress or sexual orientation is amazing. This makes people feel safe, and welcome. The teachers that I have had have been dialed into the students needs. Whether it be academic, mental health, or just someone to vent to. The academics are challenging, and the variety of clubs, and AP opportunities are amazing. The free spirited, relaxed environment has enabled me to be myself, and make many meaningful friendships. I strongly recommend this school to anyone who can feasibly go, and chase their interests.
It’s a good school. There are issues, like any other school, but in the area, or even in the state, no one can really beat it as far as ACT prep and college readiness in my opinion. My main quarrel with the school is the administration. They handle disciplinary issues very poorly, especially on the subject of bullying. The teachers are very opinionated and it affects how they treat certain students, and the administrative staff is as well. There are many good teachers there as well, and like I previously said, it’s the best school certainly in the area for college readiness, and it’s the best for music and the arts as well. It has its good years with sports, but those are few and far between it seems. It’s a good school, just has some issues with how they treat the students in many situations.
I had an excellent experience. I was surrounded by motivated students and caring teachers. I have learned so much at CMHS that I could not have learned anywhere else. Being constantly surrounded by successful students was hard at times, but it was motivating. I was motivated to push myself to be better and to accelerate to a new level in my academic career.
I'm a current senior at Caddo Magnet High, and I've loved going here for the past four years. As with any school, there are some aspects about the school I hope change within the future. There's a heavy focus on GT students, and the regular students do not receive as much praise as the GT students; there's a clear divide. The math and science teachers could be better; Ms. Dolph teaches chemistry and she is absolutely wonderful. The administration is heavily focused on academics, as this is an academic heavy school, but they don't try to improve academic resources, like textbooks or technology. Otherwise, the students are wonderful, as majority are open minded, ambitious, and driven towards success. I look back on my years with fondness, even though I was stressed most of the time due to academic competition.
This school was a perfect fit for me! The faculty and students are very welcoming and accepting of every student. When it comes to academics teachers are always looking out for their students and often have tutoring times. The school has many clubs that you can join and they allow you to start your own if one doesn't seem to fit you. The school has movie nights, picnics, and unique pep rallies.
It is such a good school. I've always felt accepted, and like I'm being pushed towards being the best person that I can be. However, sometimes mental health is sacrificed for that.
I love the atmosphere that Magnet has. Everyone is so accepting of everybody. It is a great place for education.
As a Junior attending Caddo Parish Magnet High School, I have taken part in a diverse and accepting community, that is always striving to be better. Majority of the teachers at this school enjoy what they do, make meaningful relationships with their classes, and always aim to help the students succeed. Thanks to CMHS, I have developed amazing friendships, learned so much regarding various topics, achieved a great deal of service hours from the various clubs this school has to offer, and learned how to manage my time wisely.
Firstly, the campus is beautiful. Coming in as a freshman I already had lots of friends from middle school, but I met many more wonderful friends at Magnet. The students are all very including, and you can truly be yourself. Magnet is a very diverse school. It's challenging, but in college it will pay off. I've had a great time, and I'll definitely be sad to go.
I love Magnet, the environment here is so loving and everyone here is like family to each other. You can always find a place to fit in. The campus is beautiful and clubs around school work hard to keep it looking that way.
This is a very good school! I have enjoyed my years here. It has challenging classes and many amazing teachers.
A very promising school. However, sometimes the school forgets that everyone is a kid who is still developing. You will be forced into classes that you do not want to take and heavy tests will be thrown at you daily.
While it was definitely not an easy school, I can confidently say that I will be thoroughly prepared for college. Every year I have been challenged in my classes with workload and preparation. Since we do not have a football team, instead of a having a homecoming game, we have a picnic; which I can easily say is the best part of any year.
Caddo Parish Magnet High is a high school that promotes excellence in education. Not only is this high school the most successful in academics in the city, but it motivates its students to want to be successful in any dream and passion that they may have.
