My experience at Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo High School has been overall Average. The school is located at the West side of the city which isn't the best location for a school to be placed in. Since the west side of the city is more of a "industrial area", sometimes the area can really stink due to the chemicals being exposed in the air - so take that with Caution! The school offers a variety of programs including; digital media, law and justice, business, medical, strictly university based, and much more. Diversity is also a huge plus due to the high amount of latinos/ hispanic, all uniquely from different cultural backgrounds. I wish that I could fit in more but overall the school is a good place to learn and graduate from. Just focus on your education and don't get into any type of trouble and you should be good.

Cabrillo High, the only high school on the westside of Long Beach, has a bad reputation due to gang activity around the area, as well as on campus. However, after four long years attending Cabrillo High, the stereotypes, the rumors, the bad connotations, do not exactly meet expectations. It is not "ghetto", it is just a school that falls victim to the unfortunate reality of the environment it is located in. To add, the staff and teachers currently working as Jaguar mentors express their genuine interest in their student's success and improvement, exemplifying different and efficient ways to spread knowledge into student's daily way of thinking and problem-solving, as well as mentors in daily-life opportunities and obstacles.
Cabrillo high school is literally one of the best high schools in the Long Beach district. Cabrillo, prepares you for college and real like situations. While being here for only one year, I regret not choosing this high school! My first year as a freshman year I attended a different high school which made my whole freshman year a rocky situation. My grades dropped heavily in that high school and I didn’t learn anything unlike, cabrillo.
