Cabot School is a wonderful place. We have a brilliant principal, an excellent staff, and an engaged campus.

Graduation rates, completion of AP courses, and tertiary enrollment metrics exceed most schools in Vermont. What other school with an average graduating class size of 16 sends students to Central America every other year? Find me another school that sends kids to Harvard or off to technical training or apprenticeships equally well prepared. This is a tightly tailored individualized approach that is successful and valued by both current and former students.

Are there room for improvements? Yes! Any campus needs investment, but students are in well-appointed classrooms. An amazing performing arts program is housed in a brand-new space and three playing fields and gym facilities are centers of recreation and fun for all students. Participation rates in extra-curricular activities approach 100%, by the way.

Declining enrollment has left the Cabot school with Project Based Learning as the only program. Unfortunately, this learning style is not a good fit for many students. Little emphasis is placed on STEM studies, and the music program takes the highest priority. Last year, 10 out of 13 8th graders applied to leave Cabot in favor of other high schools.
The facilities are in disrepair–moldy and decrepit throughout, rusty lockers, outdated materials, and so forth.
Students are varied in backgrounds, but there is little in the way of diversity.. Socially adept children often struggle here with the small class sizes once they get into high school .
Some graduates do go onto college, some just go right to work, some end up in jail. Average for high schools. Nothing different from neighboring towns.
An absolutely wonderful school that I am proud to attend. With project-based curriculum and a wonderful community, it's fun to learn. Teachers care about students' academic goals and work with them to reach them and make sure no one falls through the cracks.
