Burris is a unique high school because it is part of Ball State. Classes are small, teachers really care about their students and the students' success. Administration trys to make things better for students. There are a lot of dual credit college classes available. Because Burris is part of Ball State, we have access to many other resources (pool, planetarium, dining, museum, gym), but also, I think we can be better about partnering with Ball State in other academic areas.
Burris is K-12, and they do a lot with older students mentoring younger ones, and seniors have the opportunity to take an internship as part of their school day. Burris has athletics and other club activities for students will all interests.
Overall, Burris is a good school where students know they are cared about and teachers and administrators go out of their way to support the students. I feel prepared to go to college.

My overall experience at Burris Laboratory school has gone well. When I first started at Burris in sixth grade there where a lot of strict rules that had to be met. Over these past few years most of those rules have not been in-forced. There is a lot more freedom among the students and staff than any other school in the area. I personally like having more freedom and the ability to move at my own pace. As a whole Burris is like a family. Because we are such a small school everybody knows a little bit about everyone. It’s a very welcoming environment for all ages k-12 and I hope, when I am older to look back at my life at Burris and be glad that I went there.
This school has excellent academics as well as caring teachers that work to help their students in the best way possible. While discipline could be handled better, overall the faculty make this school a positive environment and a wonderful place to raise intelligent students.
