In my experience, teachers and staff create a welcoming and challenging learning environment. I have always seen an acceptance and respect to all diverse students, no matter gender identity, race etc. My guidance counselor and librarian have been great in finding resources for students. Once, I had a problem with finding a book I was anxious to read, it meant so much to me when the school librarian took the extra mile in hunting this book downtown Worcester. Our school library is one of my favorite places in the school. I appreciate the colorful space. My only concern is many equipment in the school are old and rusty. Such as desks, windows, water fountains etc, that can be unsafe. I have found some doors in the building unlocked throughout the day. Anyone can get in and out. Of course, that worries my safety of myself and others. High schools fight and violence is not uncommon. Lastly, transition to high school was much easier with Burncoat Middle School right down the side walk.
I enjoyed the art magnets provided for students to express their creativity. An opportunity to express yourself is fundamental for students to find themselves and focus on their talents. Besides being a public school with a great magnet program, Burncoat High is very diverse and students will rarely bully others because of the color of their skin. The teacher's interest and involvement could be improved.
I believe that this school accurately prepares students into the route they wish to go to, whether that is going to a college in the future or to learn automotive hands-on or to embrace their musical and theatrical talents throughout their 4 years of high school. The staff will try to assist you as best as they can and be sure to help every student with whichever need/accommodation they request. The teachers allow the students to be as authentic and creative as they can be and are respectful to every student. There's a vast cultural variety among students as well as teachers which help each students have connections and be friendly to one another. The JROTC program also gives the opportunity to those students who strive to gain discipline as well as help others by enhancing their practical skills and train as close as they can like an Air Force troop. This is a great school to attend.
