My experience at Burncoat Senior High School was exceptional. The teachers treated students with respect, disciplined them when required, and always pushed us to become the best people we could be. The teachers consistently enforced our school motto, "be safe, respectful, and positive," which resulted in better behavior from students overall. My teachers made the classes fun, memorable, and original; they used different testing and grading techniques, which helped me learn the material rather than memorize it. The only possible complaint I could give is regarding the cafeteria food. While eating cafeteria food at Burncoat, I often got frustrated because the only vegetarian option at most times was sun butter and jelly or sun butter and fluff sandwiches. I am sure students with cultural and religious restrictions would appreciate this chance.
In general, this school is one of the most accepting and diverse schools in our area! The arts programs are all astounding and provide students with great structure and pride. The majority of the staff are very understanding and willing to help as much as possible. I’ve had an overall great high school experience at Burncoat!
Going to Burncoat High School has shaped me in a positive way. The teachers encourage me to be bold and go for what I want, and the students can be very negative and hard on you but we all change each other in ways others can’t. The school lunch is very bland, dry, and sad but as long as you have some hot sauce or, “chickin dipping” sauce you’ll be all set. The schools only get cleaned twice in a school year, and that’s the beginning and end of the year. It’s mainly the teachers and students holding the school up to shape. I would give the janitors credit for keeping our school clean, but I can’t since we’re doing their jobs and they’re nowhere to be seen. Despite the acid leaking from our ceilings, windows breaking, bricks falling apart, mice running around the halls, and black acid leaking from the roofs Burncoat has to be one of the best schools I’ve been to.
