I had a great experience in Burkburnett, TX. I moved there after my sophomore year of high school, and since day one I felt like I was part of the community. All the staff at the high school was outstanding and ultimately led me to believe, Texas was the right destination to pursue a college degree. It has now been 3 years. I decided to attend Texas Tech University, and I will never forget how much that small town impacted my life!
In my opinion, Burkburnett High School is a loving and exciting place to be. As many new students attend each year, ranging from military to foreign exchange, Burkburnett High School has welcomed each one with an open heart. Personally, I am a part of the Varsity Tennis Team, and each of my teammates have been nothing but kind to me. The teachers, coaches, and staff are eager to help everyone learn as well as participate in school activities. There are many clubs and sports for each student to join at the high school. The school spirit is through the roof as most are proud to be a student at Burkburnett High. Through my year of attending Burkburnett, I have had one issue with bullying, but the administration took the situation very seriously and handled it with appropriate measures. Overall, Burkburnett High School is a fun place to be, while still being able to learn to each’s full capability.
What I enjoyed about Burkburnett High School is the family-like environment that the school gave to its students. It was a school that took pride in itself and always came together when times got rough. I remember always receiving help from my teachers and fellow classmates when it was needed and for that I am forever appreciative. A few things that I believe could be changed or fixed would be the scheduling regarding lunch. There were two separate lunches and it caused a divide amongst students. Also, the lack of compassion for certain situations. I feel as though I witnessed many situations that didn't work out for the best and was resulted in unfair justices. My overall experience was very knowledgable and eventful.
