The staff and administration is whole heartedly invested into the lives of the kids at Burk. It is not JUST about test scores and grades (although those are important and held to a very high standard!), but it is about the totality of the child's life. When a child isn't doing well, they address what is truly going on. There are two full time social workers on campus that work with the students and parents. The principal is also involved in every aspect of the school day. He knows the children and parents by name and goes the extra mile to problem solve.
Choose any given week on the calendar and you will see a variety of extra-curricular activities. From after school clubs, to band, orchestra, student council, chess club, Math clubs, reading clubs, as well as regular fun runs, snow cone Fridays, and a variety of school wide events like festivals, movie nights, SkateLand parties, restaurant nights.
This school has exceeded all our expectations. We started here in Kindergarten and even after re-zoning school districts, we decided to get a boundary exception every year. The teachers and staff truly care about every child. They care about overall well-being of a student as well as providing an A-level education.
