Students being unprepared for college starts in elementary school. The teachers at Burgess-Peterson still care about nothing other than the "test". Once the Georgia Milestones "test" is over, teaching becomes nonexistent. My student's 5th grade class has done absolutely no studying since the Milestones test was taken at the end of April. Complete waste of the last month of school. What they've done since the test" is absolutely nothing -- no homework, and they spend class time watching movies, "playing" on the computer, coloring (in 5th grade!), going on field trips, helping teachers and administrators pack up the classroom, tie-dying t-shirts (and this was not an art class) -- just utter nonsense. Atlanta Public Schools deserves their bad reputation and low test scores.
It is a great school but the teachers aren’t that strict. All they care about is the milestones. The littlest things cause big problems. The students their think they are better than others and brag for no reason. This school isn’t that diverse either. The classes are huge!!! Last year’s class had a 2-33 ratio for both 4th grade classes.
