At Buncombe County Early College, I experienced compassionate teachers who challenged students to be better. I enjoyed having small classes and the opportunity to speak with my teachers individually and easily. The program at BCEC allows students to earn a high school diploma and an associate's degree in their arts or science. After completing the program, some students went into the workforce and had no problems. The other students who continued on to a four-year university, expecting to graduate early with the credits from their associate's degree, found themselves still almost needing the full-four years to complete their bachelor's degree. This problem specifically affected students who were pursuing careers with heavy science and math requirements, such as the fields of healthcare and engineering. The major thing that needs to change is having the ability to cater the program to what the student may want for their future.

Early college is a unique experience because you are given freedom to explore college classes younger than most people. I love the teachers at BCEC, for they have always supported me and given me the tools I needed to succeed. Early College has also allowed me to take amazing trips due to the trips abroad they have every year. I like that they now have optional college support class (at least if you make A's & B's I believe). One thing I would change about BCEC is the pressure they put on students to choose a major when they are so young.
The best school in the world! Getting two degree/diplomas at once?? I learned how to time management, figured out how to study, and learned how to ask for help!
