I started at BB&N in 5th grade at the lower school; I'm now a senior (female, POC). My experience has had its ups and downs. I have made amazing friends, I have had great teachers, and I enjoyed most of the classes I've taken.
The academic experience depends on the teachers you get. There's about one bad egg in each department, but the majority of teachers are fantastic; I've been pretty lucky. Our Latin language department is the BEST! Socially, the friend groups can be pretty cliquey, but it might only be a problem with the current upperclassmen (it may soon be phased out). A problem I have with the school is its emphasis on sports and lack thereof in the arts. We have a great art department, but it's only due to the effort of the teachers, who don't seem well supported. The workload is cumbersome. My friends and I are almost never stress-free, leading to sub-par mental health. Even so, there is no place I would rather have gone! I learned so much and loved my time here.

I came to BB&N last year and it has been the best decision of my life! All the teachers truly make connections with the students and want to help each person succeed. The community is outstanding, and being at BB&N has helped me expand my comfort zone and I became interested in lots of extracurriculars that I wouldn't have access to at my previous school. I would without a doubt recommend BB&N to anyone looking for an accepting, balanced, and truly unbelievable high school experience!
Yes, BB&N has incredible academics, amazing teachers and will prepare you for college. But, if you do to BB&N, just know that you will be losing 99% of what kids love about high school. BB&N is a constant grind with little-to-no time to actually enjoy your high school experience. With 2-5 hours of homework on weeknights and 3-6 hours of homework on weekends, BB&N is a non-stop center of workaholics. The teachers and culture at BB&N breeds this grade-obsessed behavior while simultaneously pretending that it doesn't exist. Substance rates are through the roof. BB&N has one of the worst alumni interaction rates because most people that graduate hated their experience there. If you are thinking of going to BB&N, I would recommend looking into other ISL schools. Yes, you will get a great education, but there is a huge chance that you will lose yourself in the process of doing so.
