BB&N has amazing academics and more arts and culture than most high schools. The two downsides are the incredibly stressful environment (which you can't really do much about, it's full of high achieving students) and the lack of diversity. I understand that BB&N tries to have good diversity and I appreciate that, but I'll echo some of the previous comments: they let a fair amount of people in for sports or money that don't bring anything else to the table.

Besides racial diversity, which they have been trying to improve on, BB&N lacks socioeconomic variation and especially diversity of thought. I appreciate the school's agenda of tolerance, but the lack of diverse political opinions is kind of annoying. I mean, there's not a ton they can do being in Cambridge, but it feels like they are trying to force an agenda onto us. I am incredibly liberal myself, but it just becomes obnoxious the amount of preachy politics they talk about.

I had the good fortune of graduating from BB&N about 10 years ago. I enrolled in BB&N in 9th grade.

Simply put, BB&N is one of the top high schools in the United States. I will not list the statistics that prove this out because they are easily available online. If you are a young person who is dedicated to their studies, the BB&N experience offers endless academic and intellectual challenges. If I compare the academic and professional trajectory of my BB&N classmates and that of my university classmates, my BB&N classmates more consistently find themselves doing impactful research, working for interesting companies and nonprofits, and helping to shape American politics.
I am now in my senior year attending Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, or BB&N as we call it. With a large proportion of teachers who are truly passionate and care about what they are teaching, I found that I often enjoyed my classes and getting to interact with my teachers and fellow students much more than I had at public school. The student body could use some more work in its selectivity, as many kids don't really fit the "BB&N culture" which the administration tries to preach. Many of them are simply admitted based upon athletic ability or other things similar, so I believe that the school could get a much better overall feel to it if kids were selected for admission based upon character. Despite this, BB&N has given me such a great experience over the years, and I feel completely ready for college due to the rigorous and challenging course load and the high importance of time management which the school instills in its students.
