Bruriah High School for Girls Reviews

The higher up administration needs was unimpressive. They did not care about the individual student and targeted specific students to mark up for dress code infractions. They were also more close minded. The work load was immense as well. It is enough to have the double curriculum, but to also have double classes of the same subject and huge amounts of work for each class is impossible. There was no break room for seniors that had a break period and some of the Jewish studies teachers were clearly not cut out for teaching. We were given options for subjects to be taught senior year, with the requirement being that 12 girls had to sign up, and they still didn't offer those courses. However, some of the secular studies were very strong. The science and English were excellent, as well as writing. Some of the math was good, some was awful. The history teacher was horrible. But the AP classes were taught extremely well.

Bruriah is very focused on academics and sports. The faculty is decent. While there are mostly amazing teachers there are some not so good ones - especially in the foreign language department. It's not as cliquey as other schools but not as friendly as I'd like. Unfortunately the dress code is very strict and certain students are always unfairly being singled out. Overall it's a pretty good school even though they could definitely work on certain aspects
I transferred to Bruriah midway through tenth grade and it was the best thing I ever did!
The teachers and student were incredibly warm and inviting!
