People at this school are very unkind to each other. The school does not celebrate diversity and often times overlooks students at expense to other student. Example, if a football player is being a bully disciplinary action isn’t taken to protect athletics. Also, the school is not academically rigorous English classes content are mostly vocabulary, math is out of order, science standards keep getting re-organized, and history content is repetitive. Honors classes aren’t rewarded with extra gpa weight even though you do more work. The honors class just separates classes of students based on the work ethics, if they wanted students to succeed on a higher academic level they would provide their students with the resources and time needed. I am sexually harassed on almost a weekly basis and if I try to speak up little is done. The school and programs it offers has potential, but it lacks rudimentary ethics and many teachers and staff lack empathy.
Brunswick High School is a good learning facility. The majority of the staff and administration genuinely care for their students education and well being. I was able to participate in dual enrollment through this school and as a result was accepted into the college I was attending as a dual enrollment student to further my education past high school. I will start my journey as a freshman at College of Coastal Georgia in the summer semester of 2023. Also in regards to my high school, there have been many staff and admin members who have very carefully and patiently guided me and helped me through my highschool career. They have helped me to apply for financial aid and many other things. Thanks to the staff and administration at Brunswick Highschool I will be able to attend college with less student debt than I would have without their help. I have received the Pell Grant and I qualify for the HOPE scholarship. Brunswick High has helped me a great deal in preparing for college.
As an AP/Honors/Gifted student, BHS has treated me well. The teachers try their best, as do the administration. I love the atmosphere at sporting events, and am currently a member of eight Brunswick High School organizations/clubs. However, there have been instances throughout my Freshman and Sophomore year in which my safety has come into question. The school has tried to increase their efforts within this category via placing alarms on the side doorways and bettering the the quality of cameras within the student parking lot, but the fact that these had taken place, makes me rank it average instead of very good.
