It was an eye opening experience! Despite the metal detectors that created an atmosphere similar to Rikers, I loved the positive energy the teachers provided which seemed effortless. The college guidance counseling needs some improvement, but other than that it is a perfect place to grow.
I have been working at Brooklyn Generation School for almost two years now, and I must say that this is an exceptional school. The teachers are very engaged with the students and they really go out of their way to make learning a fun experience. The school principal Mrs. LC is extremely involved and makes you feel at home. The school has many programs that help students with their needs, but one that sticks out is a college and career program. In this program, they work with students individually from 9th grade to help them find a college, apply and receive scholarships. I feel lucky to part of a school that makes you feel like you're family and paves the way for your future.
For the 3 years I've been in Brooklyn generation, I notice that teacher and students always have a good relationship not only in class but also outside of class. I've seen teacher go out of their way to make sure students on the right track to pass a class or to get in to college. I also experience been in the shoes where I had my teacher helping me deciding what college would be best for me and it wasn't a 2 mins conversation, we took the whole after and her focus was still remain the same as when we started.
