Welcome to BIA Charter School! We are a public state charter school located on a three-acre campus in Norcross, GA providing a superior class of education to over 500 students in grades K-8.

The genesis of BIA Charter School sprung from a group of concerned parents in the Brookhaven area looking for a better public school option for their children. The major tenets of that original charter: project-based learning, personalized learning, and a strong coding curriculum are still very much alive at BIA today. These tenets work in tandem to provide a strong, authentic educational experience to prepare today’s students for the world of tomorrow.

It is BIA’s awareness and willingness to embrace innovation that has ensured the BIA community continues to flourish. Over that last year, we developed an effective hybrid learning model and continue to adapt to achieve our goal to be the number one school of choice in Georgia!

Summer Reading at BIA

Studies continue to show that students that read over the summer not only avoid “summer slide” but increase their literacy proficiency exponentially! In order to ensure all BIA students thrive and not slide, a BIA Summer Reading List of suggested titles has been compiled. During the summer, every student is encouraged to read a minimum number of books and complete ONE PBL style project.

My children have attended this school since opening. They also attend other learning and social clubs outside of school. Over the years I noticed how my children have strong project based learning skills over their peers that attend other private and public schools. They also have exhibited a diverse way of applying what they have learned in math, science and language arts. From my experience of both private and public schools my children have attended, the turn over is about the same. Any issues I have had with teachers at BIA have been resolved fairly quickly. Another factor in our family success at BIA has been our participation with the school and staff but also educational reinforcement at home. We do not believe that ANY school can teach our children EVERYTHING. Also, every family is different. We discussed what type of education, teachers and curriculum was important. BIA has delivered great results for our kiddos!

I have had a great experience at BIA and have been part of the school since its beginning in 2016. My family has seen the school grow under the current leadership by leaps and bounds, and my children love their teachers. The project-based learning is wonderful, and the coding program has grown from a self-directed on-line software program to full on instruction. Some of our middle school students were national finalists in a coding competition! Turnover has been a concern, but we trust the administration and know they are in the process of building something special.

Brookhaven Innovation Academy is a very warm and inviting school environment for all staff, students, and parents. Every staff member is dedicated to their job and making it a wonderful place of learning for all students who attend. They offer many things, such as Project Based Learning, Coding, and Social Emotional support every day. They go above and beyond the regular standards of a school!
