Brighter Horizons Academy Reviews
Rating 3.8 out of 5 96 reviews
I only attended BHA for one year and it was not the best. Academically, classes are well structured however teachers pick and choose students to benefit. There is barely any school spirit and the sports department is very weak. College readiness was at its minimum, there is only one counselor for the whole school and she tends to forget alot of important things. Islamically, it is an amazing school. They put a lot of focus onto their Quran/Arabic departments, and have daily prayers at school. However, they have many odd rules on student relations, including: girls and boys cannot speak to each other outside academic talks, they both have their own staircases and hallways, and common rooms have a wall in the middle to separate both genders. As you can see, rules like these can have a positive or negative effect on a child’s mind. Also, there is also a lot of internal racism. The school really depends on what you’re looking for to benefit in.
We have been Brighter Horizon Parents for the past four years and have loved our journey so far. Prek through 1st grade has been a great experience after the integration of the IB program. The IB program has enhanced the Islamic environment aspect we were looking for, as it enables all aspects of a child's intelligence to develop. We are very happy that from a very young age, children are encouraged to engage in group research projects and present them to a large audience. What a confidence builder! This is the kind of preparation they need for the coming years.
Brighter Horizons Academy caters to the Muslim community of the DFW metroplex. This school is k-12 and offers AP, Dual Credit, and IB classes for their students. I loved the school's teachers but not the environment.
