For a diverse child, it is hard to know if they truly fit into the school. They make the children conduct Parent Teacher conferences instead of the parents being able to speak candidly with the teachers about the students. The teaching practices are very different from when I (parent) was in school and I have no idea how to help my child who occasionally struggles with some of the work. The teachers are not giving the children spelling tests and rely on spell check which is teaching the children to be lazy. The children don't have text books but get worksheets to complete regularly. This makes it difficult for the parents to keep track of the types of lessons that they children learn.

The PTO meetings are generally held at a time that does not allow the working parent to attend. We generally will get some type of communication from the school or PTO asking for money but other than that we don't get communication from them. That is not a great practice from the school as a whole and especially the PTO.
There are not any activities that our child can participate in due to her need for care and transportation to after school care since both parents work.
