The response to COVID-19 has been great and efficient! Overall, the hybrid schooling system has proven to be beneficial for students. The school does need to look at better school spirit. The academic opportunities and pathways are beneficial experiences that aid in shaping a career-minded student, with dedicated teachers to help along the way.
My experience at Brien McMahon High School was not the typical high school experience for many reasons of course. When you think of high school you think about growing towards the next part of your life. I always thought when in high school you would expect a great learning experience but that's not what I got. I didn't get the education I wanted during my time here. The teachers never really took the time to teach us the material, it mostly turn all the work in and we had to teach ourselves. Our counselor did not help us as much as I thought they would when it comes to preparing for college and things like that. There was a lot of school activities, we had many clubs for everyone and we had great sports but I feel like they would favorite certain sports and fund them over others. I just felt the school overall was just average and nothing over the top and they didn't make us feel like we are a priority, it was more about how the school looked vs how the students felt.
Brien McMahon High School is a school of diversity. The students there vary widely in background, financial situations, religion, and race. The staff here encompass a wide range of people, from unpredictable scientists to empathetic English teachers. The characters and the family here are far more important then the level of academic success achieved, as long as full effort is applied. The lunch is great, and the schools response to Covid-19 has been quick and responsive, and have been diligent in contact tracing.
