BRHS definitely prepares you academically for college, and has plenty of resources available to help you succeed. Many of the teachers here are super nice and want to make you will succeed. There are lots of clubs and activities to get involved in here, which was a plus! The music program here was absolutely amazing. The curriculum overall is plenty rigorous, which was a plus because I felt much more prepared to take on college classes than if I had an easier curriculum. The events, such as spirit week and pep rally, was my favorite week of the school year. Overall, I liked BRHS much more than BRMS… out of all 4 schools I’ve attended during K-12, BRHS was my second favorite with Hillside (5-6) being the first
I believe that Bridgewater-Raritan High School is one of the most unique schools in the entire nation. While it is still only a high school, we get to experience a college campus with 10 separate buildings each for a different subjects. This ensures that we get to move around outside rain or shine and enjoy the vibrate environment around us. The teachers there also take advantage of the school design and take us outside to teach their lessons. In the winter while it may get chilly, you'll see people lend their jackets to others in order to keep them safe from the cold. Though the sports at the school may be below par, the school spirit always keeps the stands alive and you'll always feel the excitement even if the team is down 20 points. The only thing at the school thats below average would have to be the bathrooms which are always crowded since each building only has one. However, other than that, I find this school incredibly enjoyable and hope you come and join me!
BRHS will definitely prepare you for college academically. The rigor of the courses teach you to have a good work ethic, which is really important for college.
As for the guidance counselors, I was lucky enough to have a great guidance counselor who helped me every step of the way during the college application/admission process. However, not everyone shared such an experience, and many of my friends complained that they felt pressured to apply/not apply to certain schools by their counselor.
BRHS has many clubs, but some die within a few months because members aren't interested. You'll quickly realize that Speech & Debate, Mock Trial, and Model UN Nations are some of the few clubs which are worth joining.
Because the school is so big, you don't have to worry about making friends. There will always be people who you'll share interests with and just vibe with.
Overall, BRHS has its pros and cons, but just make the most of it and enjoy your time there; it flies by very quickly!
