This is a school of competition. Athletics expect the best of the best and push them further to reach exellence. But, before athletics comes grades. The grades are the support beam for sports. Very few students fail classes with most passing along an A or B. Some students achieve above a 4.0 GPA. The schools environment is friendly and the rules and regulations are consistently followed. Honors and AP classes are available for anyone who wants a challenge and college prep is exaggerated starting with the Freshmen and Sophmores taking the PSAT and the Juniors taking the actual SAT. Free ACT prep courses are provided outside of school hours and tutoring is always available during lunch and home room. BHS is rated #1 in county and top in the state for these and several other reasons.

As a high school senior, I have seen this school grow over the last 4 years. I have seen many teachers come to our school just as substitutes and then end up as full time teachers due to the fact that Bridgeport is such an amazing school. Living in a small town and going to school in such a small town really has its perks as it connects students in all different types of ways whether it is through sports, the arts, or academics. I do not believe that I would change anything about my school. All of the teachers truly care about their students and only want what is the absolute best for them and I admire that deeply.
Some really exceptional people here, but also some really toxic elements at play. There is a lot of favoritism, a lack of diversity, awareness, and accommodation. Compared to the area, the education overall pretty good, but if you plan on leaving the area (i.e. West Virginia), you may get struck with how behind you are.
