The teachers are great at Brevard High School if you take the time to get to know them. The academics are either hit or miss but overall its a good school to attend.
A relatively small high school in the mountains of North Carolina, Brevard High School really does make me feel special. The faculty and staff make a point to personalize my education to my strengths while assisting me with my weaknesses. I haven't yet taken a class nor had a teacher that I dislike, and I hardly ever dread going to school. As a member of the student council, I have also become aware that there is great emphasis on the importance of mental health, hence our newly formed Mental Health Committee. Additionally, academics are only the tip of the iceberg. The school spirit, athletic programs, arts, and social atmosphere all help me fulfill a high school experience that is unparalleled. These things truly make me proud to be a Blue Devil at Brevard High School.
My experience at Brevard High School has been a positive one. I have enjoyed the availability of AP and Honors classes, as well as the opportunity to be dual enrolled at a local community college.
Horrible administration and support for student. As a student I was profiled for all 4 years. Teachers were not very encouraging
Brevard high is a very diverse and inclusive school. If a student cannot find a class, within the school, that interests them they are given the option to take online classes and even are encouraged to take dual-enrollment at the local community college. The school is full of many different ethnicities of students with a large variety of ethic backgrounds. The school also offers many work opportunities.
Most of the school is wonderful. The teachers are nice and you never get too much work, and even if you did the teachers are concerned with students' mental health so they will help you with the work being given. You learn what is needed and get some fun experiences out of it. There are a lot of career-based classes and you get real-world experience through those classes. Overall it has been great the only thing I would change is how much time I got to spend here.
Brevard high school is a school that accepts everyone although there is not much diversity in races there are lots of different types of people here and they are all comfortable within the school. As far as things I enjoy at this school is the amount of opportunity it has within CTE classes as well at the arts, I would like to see more funding within the choir and more funding in sports other than football. Overall my experience at BHS is pretty average the teachers are hit or miss but I do enjoy the opportunity it brings for all types of students.
Brevard High School is a very nice small town school. The student to teach ratio is nice and students have a chance to work one on one with teachers. The resources and counselors are excellent, and really help students prepare for colleges. The schedule however is poor, there are four long periods, which loose the attention span for most students. Lunch is only 30 minutes. There is also a set period of time for extra work and clubs, which I feel isn't needed because that isn't enough time to catch up on work.
I had wonderful teachers and wonderful classes that helped shape me into the person I am today and prepare me to be successful in college.
Teachers are caring and want you to succeed. Especially in the math department. The library is great with many resources and a great place to study. Being involved in sports was fun. Would like to see the food quality change for the better.
I feel they don' t give students enough responsibility, many of us are treated as children when we need to be owning up to our responsibilities in academics and finding the path we feel we need before we go off to college or various work environments. Personally, I feel they aren't preparing us for the real world, just trying to ensure that everyone gets good grades, not necessarily how they got to that point or how much they have grown. Academics are very important to the school, most of the teachers work very diligently to ensure that students get the attention they need and will work extra with you all you need to do is ask. Overall I like the school, the teachers are very nice I just dislike some of the politics of things, like sports programs and the bias, as well as how some people are treated differently than others and how the students don't get to have quite as much freedom as I think they should.
It was a very small school so every professor knows your name. This is beneficial since it allows for good relationships as well as more one on one teaching if necessary. On the down side, the smaller environment leads to a limited variety of classes to enroll in. There were not too many AP classes available at Brevard High School.
I love the close knit community of Brevard and the wonderful teachers who care about me as a person not just their student
I feel that Brevard has wonderful teachers who really care about making the learning environment as vibrant and rewarding as possible. I think this passion is a strong asset for my school. However, there is not a wide variety of courses -- particularly for students interested in social and natural sciences. BHS only has 5 AP courses, therefore, there are not many outlets for talented students to explore and utilize their full learning potential.
A good school with many teachers who genuinely care about their students. The environment is highly welcoming and accepting. The education is great, although there aren't many opportunities easily offered in such a small, rural school.
There's a little bit of everything to explore at this school with it's large variety of classes.
There's rarely any fights and students get along very well.
