A pretty good school overall. I've heard that there were teachers that don't even teach anything and just gives the students worksheets. But in my experience, I have never had a bad teacher and had good teachers from 6th grade to 8th grade. It won't be hard to fit in and everyone there is really fun and friendly. But I have to say that there will be big groups of cliques but there isn't any bullying.
Decent middle school. Fun for what it is, but not much else. Good environment that provides room to have fun sometimes (and to just be a middle school-er).
It’s not a bad public school. A lot of the teachers are hit or miss. You’ll probably only learn something if you get a good teacher. Otherwise, it’s pretty much a waste of an year where everyone fools around and nothing is taken seriously. Generally, students are alright but it might be hard to fit in if you don’t already know a lot of people. There’s quite a few clubs and activities to do and a lot of the electives are interesting.
Bret Harte is not particularly well-rounded; however, the school is known within SJUSD for having especially distinguished academics. In addition, Bret Harte's speech and debate program in collaboration with Leland High School's nationally ranked team is very well organized.
Many fun clubs and organizations are offered and joined by students throughout the school
nurse can't help with anything unless you have a medical problem on file and is granted to give you medication; staff is concerned with the well being of the students.
