Branham is a diverse school with strong aetheltics, band and STEM departments. STEM in particular is emphasized by the staff and students on campus, which is understandable because of its location in the Silicon Valley. Personally, I see myself in art and design in the future, and Branham’s struggling art program made my goal feel unachievable. While the staff is kind, it’s hard to feel supported because of the large student body. Along with that feeling of being ignored, the overall competitive nature of the Silicon Valley has caused myself and classmates to sign up for a ridiculous number of AP classes. While Branham is in no way a bad school, it’s not the right school for me.
Branham is also appart of the Middle College program. So students like me are able to pursue courses better suited for what we want to do in the future.

Attending Branham High School is overall a positive experience. While there are currently more students than the school is built to accomodate, activities and events generally run smoothly. The teachers at Branham are caring and dedicated to student success; as long as students show initiative, they will give the students their full support. One thing that Branham could improve (and is currently improving) is facilities; many of the buildings and facilities are worn down and not in the best condition, but the school is currently working on renovations that will create an updated and brighter campus.
Many aspects of my school are quite incredible, however there are some things that bring my overall view of the school down. For example, we have an absolutely amazing faculty, led by our phenomenal principal, Ms. Cheryl Lawton. The faculty themselves deserve a higher rating than an average. On the contrary, it would been illogical to give our school such a rating without acknowledging some of the not-so-good factors that our school has. As an example, I think that our school has yet to find an effective way to deal with our ever-present drug and smoking problem on campus, and that definitely has a negative impact on the experience of any student that attends Branham. All this to say, Branham High School is in no way an average school, but it receives an average rating because it has benefits and inconveniences on either side of the spectrum. Therefore, I hope that Branham can be seen as an outstanding school with a few disruptive aspects.
