One of the things that I believe my high school has to offer is a wide variety of extracurriculars. They invest a lot of their funding on sports to ensure that our teams have quality equipment that help improve and enhance athletes' performances. However, I believe that they should reallocate the money they raise towards other departments and clubs that exhibit extraordinary talent and knowledge. Funding could also be distributed to important causes, such as mental health, in order to provide struggling students with resources that could help their situation.
I loved Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. It was a very supportive and involved school. BBCHS became a safe place for many students as schools should. All staff cared about students are how they were doing in classes and what there plans were for the future. The kids loved communicating with teachers about life and knowing they can go to the staff with any problem was awesome. The students were super involved with the Best Buddies program which is a group of students that pair up with a mentally handicapped student and bonded with them throughout the school year doing different activities together and learning together. It is a super amazing school and program to be apart of. The only thing I would change about BBCHS was the lack of equal support for sports, the school is very centered around football and volleyball and the other sports get less attention from the school.
The school that I'm attending and have attended for the past 4 years has taught me so so much and gave me so many opportunities to live like a teenager and have fun. There were things that I looked, like senior year, and I've been excited about those things since I was a freshman. For example, during homecoming week, the seniors have so many traditions. Like painting a rock and signing our initials on it. This has been a tradition for decades and it's so fun to look forward to. We also get to raid the school on the Thursday of homecoming week and sing songs in a big group in the main lobby of the school. There have been so many experiences I will never forget. The teachers at my school have also taught me so much, and not only about learning. I've learned so much about life and what the right things to do are. I will never be able to thank them enough for giving me a great 4 years.
