I love my counsler and my teachers- senior year has been great. Braden River even has a unique school rule about not stepping on the grass within the courtyard. However, with that unusual rules come some more ridiculous ones. No leggings, no hair color, and basically no shorts. I say "basically no shorts" because it has to be well past your finger tip- or you risk getting called on it. Most of the student population ends up wearing jeans or sweats, but luckily they have great air conditioning!
I absolutely love the art program at this school! It is amazing and the instructors are active professionals in the art world allowing their students to be exposed to the real art world. The problem is that the school only funds the sports team and neglects the arts, both visual and performing. The biggest problem is the administration; I was glad to hear the admin were strict at this school because the middle school I had come from had a weak admin and the students were out of control. However, this school is ridiculously strict, especially about dress code with girls. This school is located in Florida and it gets extremely hot but girls have to be completely covered up. They're a little obsessive about the dress code in my opinion. The teachers overall are really good, and I can't complain much.
My overall experience with Braden River High School was great. There are many teachers and other members of staff that care about the students and are very knowledgeable about their respective topic; there are teachers who are enthusiastic and willing to take the time and help struggling students. The food served is average and students are served small portions, but the school hosts an after-school "snack pack" for the students who have extracurricular activities. There are many clubs and after-school activities for students interested in music, football, JROTC, and even board games. However, a glaring issue with the school is its lack of college readiness. Oftentimes, it is a hassle for students who want to meet with their guidance counselor due to long wait times. Furthermore, the school doesn't provide sufficient information about college life, scholarships, application, etc. and seniors are forced to find out on their own.
