Most of my teachers have been pretty good and I do feel like I am prepared for college. Carli who heads up the college and career center is awesome. Some of the administration people that work the front desk aren't helpful at all. In fact, one lady is straight out mean. The facilities at Bowie are awful except for anything involving sports. The hallways look like a prison and there is always something breaking. But we have a brand new gym and parking garage! Note that grade point averages are calculated lower at Bowie than other schools, which is frustrating. All and all I have had a decent experience at Bowie, but SO much could be improved.
Bowie High School was definitely an experience. Education wise, Bowie offered a variety of classes like AP, On-Ramps, and ACC to prepare for college. I participated in many of these classes which was challenging but pushed me to achieve my best. Many of the teachers at the school are very in touch with their students & are so helpful. Many extracurriculars were also offered ranging anywhere from ultimate frisbee, to art club, to student organize against racism, and so much more. This allowed many students to branch out and try new things and meet new people which allowed for students to get involved at Bowie as well as the surrounding community. However, the academic building students spend the majority of the time is a concrete building that has no air conditioning or heater makes the learning environment very unpleasant. But with the addition of the new parking garage, brand new athletic facility, and the upcoming theater the campus is starting to become bearable.
Bowie is a school with good and bad things. Luckily here the good things is the education itself. The teachers are great and really feel like they actually want to teach the kids and aren't just doing it for a paycheck. They seem to be excited about teaching the kids and bring up fun and engaging things to help kids be excited.
When it comes to things like the facilities, that's when things get wierd. The bathrooms are really bad ( at least for the men's bathroom I don't know about the women's ) cause guys are constantly destroying the stalls, vaping, and just being annoying. The academic bulidng isn't heated so it's quite cold when it's cold. The individual rooms are though so that's good. The new facilities they have added like the gym and the fine arts bulidng are much better though.
When it comes to food I'd say it's not terrible but I don't like it very much.
Overall if you want your kid to have good education go to bowie!
