BHS has been adding a lot more advanced placement courses. These courses definitely help with college and is a great opportunity to get some credits for college. Another pro is that a lot of the teachers really care about the students. In my 4 years at BHS, I have developed a great friendship with the teaching staff. One con about this school was that it had no diversity. About 80% of the school is Caucasian. A lot of students would tease and make racial remarks about the ethnic students, and sometimes the administration would do nothing at all. Another con of Bourne High School was that their school lunches were absolutely terrible. The food they served when I was a student there was over priced, at about $3.00 for just a slice of pizza and a small carton of almost-expired milk. The pizza was just cheese on bread with terrible sauce. Prisons serve better food than bhs. Another con was that students are not allowed to have coffee in the morning.
Bourne High School provided me opportunities such as the ability to take AP classes and further my knowledge. All teachers were able to help in anyway possible. Even during these times, Bourne High School was able to continue my education online and in school.
I really enjoyed this school. Though it was not perfect and it had it up and downs, I think it is a good school for someone who loves the arts and sports. Bourne really fosters the arts as in music, musical theater, and the actual arts. Bourne is a small school so most people know a lot of people. The class sizes are small so it is easy for the teacher to get to know there students.
