I love how caring all of the staff members and administrators are. All of the principals know their students by name, and will have a conversation with you at any given time. The teachers love to stay connected with their students as much as possible throughout the rest of their high school career and possibly long into the future. I do think, though, the counselors should be better equipped and trained to help students with their mental health struggles. The counselors main focus is to make sure you get enough credits and can get into college, and get scholarships. Other than that I absolutely love this school am am beyond blessed to have been able to attend!
Blue Springs South High School has given me knowledge, friendships, and opportunities that will stay with me forever. The teachers care about their students, and take the time to get to know them. The classes are challenging, but there are resources and help all around us. Blue Springs South looks out for their students and strives to give them the best high school experience possible. I would not trade my high school for any other. I am proud to be a jaguar!
Blue Springs South High School is complicated. For straight, white students, especially males, it's a breeze. All of the staff supports you fully and there's nothing to worry about. Striaght, white girls are similar, but are shamed in certain activities such as band and color guard. Enter the world of LGBTQ+ individuals and their harassment and bullying is ignored. Go to the people of color at our school (hardly anyone) and they're basically sectioned off and treated poorly. And then overall, no matter what you look like, bullying, racist comments, homophobic comments, transphobic comments, xenophobic comments, sexist comments, etc by other students and STAFF are ignored and not addressed by the majority of staff members. That being said, as a straight and white male, South has been a good experience for myself.
