We have a had a remarkable experience at Blue School. Our son (now in 5th) is engaged in ways we couldn't imagine until we experienced it. His excitement around academics (even math!) has been so amazing to see. It truly comes from him- he is alert about the world, and empathetic to his peers, a lot of this framework has come from the super teaching staff and the overall philosophy of learning at Blue. We get to see his progress through a lot of cool learning presentations, publishing parties and more. The school has fostered a strong respectful community of other caring and engaged parents and there is a real strength in the parent body- I can not recommend this school more. It is an expense for sure, but we believe it is worth it!

We had three children enrolled in Blue School beginning in the 2's through 2nd grade, until we moved out of state. Our experience at Blue School made a huge and lasting impact on our children and family. Not only did they develop a deep love for education, reading and poetry in particular (they all started reading at 4 years old), they also nurtured their immense creativity and developed a kind, empathetic love for their fellow classmates. Our three children are all quite different with different strengths and interests but they all flourished and were all accepted to a highly competitive academically accelerated K-12 after leaving Blue School. Their work in all academic subjects is meaningful, deep, creative and continues to reflect that love of learning that they first developed at Blue School. I can't recommend this school and community enough for your family. Had we not moved we definitely would have stayed through middle school.
Blue School is still young and their ambitious program has gone through some adjustments over the years. But these changes have come organically and have strengthened their approach. Learning goes deep, academics are incorporated into the kid's work in a clever and engaging way and social-emotional development is an integral part. This type of teaching attracts high quality faculty. My son is still in primary but I have toured their middle school and am impressed with faculty and program (high school acceptance list is very positive). Facilities are great, unfort. it doesn't have the outdoor space of larger schools, but the new gym in the upper grades building helps.
