Overall, the education at Blue Mountain Highschool is above average. Throughout my 3 years here, and going into my last year as a senior, I felt as if I was well prepared for all my important tests such as Keystones and SATs.
I also admire the number of clubs and sports the school provides for students. There are many choices to pick from, and each club and sport keeps you involved with the activities they do. However, while education and extracurricular activities are outstanding, the environment is lacking. There is disharmony between students. It is a difficult environment for a freshman to come into, you struggle to find a place within the school where you feel like you fit in. Many opt from going to public schooling to online schooling, I have done that for a period of time and I believe that online schooling is in-depth and advanced compared to other online learning. Overall, the school has a strong education but lacks in the environment itself.

Attending high school at Blue Mountain was a hindrance to my academic career rather than a stepping stone to higher education. If you don't fall in the pool of average students, you will be disappointed by the opportunities, or lack there of. The curriculum is weak and the majority of teachers are unmotivated. I have had to argue with the administration every year in order to locate challenging and interesting courses, eventually being forced to outsource for large portions of my curriculum. Moreover, the language department is a detriment to anyone who hopes to major in a foreign language or international field in university.
I’ve gone to BM since kindergarten. Overall, academically, the school does well in preparing kids for college (that is if you are taking Honors/AP). Sports are average. Most of our independent sports like running/swimminh/golf do well as do some of our team sports. Our school previously followed a stricter dress code, but they have become more lenient, allowing us to wear patterned shirts and jeans. Administration is still strict with other rules however. There are no cellphones allowed, you must sign out and carry your passbook, and activities at pep rallies and football games are limited, as well as drug testing. If you are looking for a more academically challenging school in this area, I feel that BM prepares students more than some of the neighboring schools (then again, if you’re taking Honors or AP). Overall, my experience was good in HS. I have done well in BM and will am thankful for my learning experience since I feel very well prepare for college.
