My experience at Bloomington South has been different than most, because of the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting my freshman year and impacting the next 2 years of my education. However, the school was extremely adaptable during the height of the pandemic, and although the virtual learning experience wasn't perfect, I was impressed by how quickly the administration created a plan to continue our education. I have always been impressed by the number of clubs and activities at South, all of which are very inclusive of all cultures.
It's fairly rare that you find this much diversity in a public school in the middle of Indiana. For one, the teachers are amazing--for the most part. A majority of the teachers are very experienced and care greatly about their student's learning and wellbeing. However, there are also many teachers at the school who don't exactly inspire their students to want to learn. Many of these teachers find themselves in "non-honors" classroom settings. Their students are put in a difficult situation since they aren't encouraged to learn, and they are less likely to pursue high-level classes, so they are less likely to enjoy the brilliance of many teachers at the school.
The culture at South is hard to summarize, which is indicative of its diversity. Students come from many different backgrounds, and I was exposed to a wide variety of viewpoints during my time there. The school is an intersection of people from the rural midwest and folks born and raised in the liberal college town of Indiana.

Bloomington High School South is by far the greatest high school in the greater Bloomington area. The facilities and extracurricular programs are top-notch and the quality of education is unmatched. Obtaining credits for graduation is much easier than at other schools because the classes are all quite easy. It also has a diverse cultural background with very good teachers. However, I would definitely bring a change of clothes in case you wet your pants. They do not have many extras. All around a very nice school.
