During my years at Bloomfield high, I learned that to excel in this school you would have to join a sports team. Bloomfield is known for its prize athletes and most of the money goes towards that department(Football and Track). As Bloomfield is a small district and sports put them on the map they often turn a blind eye to students that focus on their academics, thus favoring certain students. They provide extra help towards athletes that fail to meet school expected grading regimens or have coaches persuade teachers to change grades to allow the athlete to participate in an upcoming game/meet. I have experienced the inequality in this school as I was apart of the music department, every other week my teacher would complain about not having enough funding in our department to do a certain thing, yet the track and football team were preordering new uniforms and gear. As this is my last year I have realized that maybe I would have been better attending a different school.
I have gained a lot of knowledge from bloomfield high school. Both educational skills and life skills that I can use in college and in my ventures after it. I have met lifelong friends here that have helped me become the person that I know and love.it is not the school itself that gets the 3/5 star rating but unfortunately It is the students. The students made my four years of high school some what unenjoyable for reasons I rather not say. But I have for the years that follow this opinion will change for other students.
Being homeschooled all of my life, Bloomfield High School was the first public school that I had ever attended. The staff and faculty were very welcoming and supportive of my journey to assimilating into school life.
