Blackstone Valley Tech offered me a fresh start with a phenomenal curriculum and teachers who made classes enjoyable. Attending a vocational school that is able to combine both experience and education has become something I am deeply grateful for. It's always a pleasure to listening to faculty and teachers as they are lively and teach to the fullest extent of their ability. I have been in situations where I felt as if I was falling behind in challenging courses and found myself receiving guidance from every teacher. Something I would like to see changed would be for the faculty to integrate ethnic cultures and backgrounds into the school environment. Having experience in my school's multicultural club, I discussed my opinion of wanting the school to "make known" of celebrations and holidays by decorating or including said celebrations on their calendars so students feel further welcomed. Aside from this, BVT has been a phenomenal school that I am proud to say I will graduate from.
At BVT, every other week you go to either your academics classes, or shop classes. I feel as though you spend much more time with the people in your shops, than in academics because you share classes with different people in every academic class for the most part. This makes it challenging to meet new people and make friends. I feel as though if there were more interaction between shops it would provide more opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. This also show's relevance in the real world as in construction jobs, the different types of jobs work together such as plumbers, and electricians when working on new construction of a building.
BVT was the best decision that I have ever made for my future. I was so nervous to leave all my friends from my sending school, but I still talk to and see them. I have been able to make so many new and meaningful connections by attending BVT and having vocational experience is so beneficial to my future endeavors. I seriously recommend the Health Services program. The instructors are great and I have obtained so much knowledge and so many certifications in this shop. The overall school environment is amazing and BVT is helping to shape the future.
