Bishop Verot Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 4.34 out of 5 179 reviews
Being enrolled at Bishop Verot was a great opportunity for me. Coming from a Catholic middle school, many of my friends this high school as well so I went in having an existing support system. The greatest experience at this school was the familial relationship that everyone seems to have. For example, the school spirit and fun activities that we have. The worst experiences, however, have to do with being a black girl in a majority white school. This leads to discrimination, jokes, and slurs being said. Despite these negative circumstances, i am aware that this solely has to do with the students and less to do with the school itself and I am very grateful to have this opportunity to have a private education.
Bishop Verot is a very good school in terms of learning. It supplies you with exactly what you need to succeed. However, they don’t tell you you can ask about honors classes, it was assumed by my friends and I that you had to be hand picked for all honors classes, so while some of us (me included) could have been taking honors since sophomore year we hadn’t know till now that we could. In terms of diversity this school is not happy. I’ve heard students call each other the N and F slurs in the hallways. Ive had my friends and I be targeted because our classmates assumed we were LGBT+. When I spoke to the higher ups it was said that I could either deal with people disrespecting my friends and I or I could leave.
Over all this school is a nice school for academics and such, but lacks in diversity and welcoming to different people. I do understand that it is a catholic school but God said to love everyone, the majority of students here do not exemplify that in their day to day life.

At Bishop Verot High School, I loved the sense of community the students and faculty had. The school community was very active, and there were endless opportunities to get involved and meet new people through sports, clubs, and school events/functions. Academically, I felt that most of the teachers I had cared deeply about their students’ success, especially AP teachers making sure we were prepared for AP exams. As a senior, I feel very prepared for college, and I appreciate how during senior year, our college counselor helped us every step of the way in the college application process. Lastly, since our school is a Catholic school, I felt that the religious side of our school was okay, but was not extremely strong and had room for improvement. But there were opportunities to express your faith, such as joining Catholics in Action club, and the school did have monthly masses. Overall, my experience at the school was very good.
