Bishop Seabury Academy helped me find my voice. I was a terrified freshman who hid behind total silence or snarky comments. I didn't realize until sophomore year how much fear I had accumulated until I realized that it was leaving. After that, it was easier to stop living in fear. I still disliked public speaking, but I realized that I could do it. In earlier years, I watched the seniors talk at Senior Night and wonder what I would say if I was brave enough to do that when it was my turn. On my Senior Night, I gave one of the longest speeches.

Even though there isn't a system of "clubs" per se, the students engage in interest areas. They are likely to participate in area science fairs, high school outreach programs at the University of Kansas, etc. The debate and forensics teams are formidable! With less than 100 students in grades 9-12, there are always between 30-40 kids involved in forensics.
Bishop Seabury is a school that rewards itself on academic readiness and inclusion. In my 6 years as a student and the 11 years being involved in the school it has had such a large impact in my life. I was able to try things I would never have at a public school, like cheer, debate and taking on a leadership role within the school. The teachers are so willing to help and see each student succeed not only in school but in life as well.
