Bishop McDevitt High School Reviews
Rating 4.31 out of 5 84 reviews
For the past four years, Bishop McDevitt High School has given me so many great opportunities. I have grown so much both spiritually and academically. This school keeps God at the center of everything. From starting class or a sporting event with a prayer to having a school wide Mass once a month, our school is very faith based. As for academics, Bishop McDevitt keeps their academic standards very high. Because we are a private, Catholic school, we are held at a higher level and more is expected from us. This gives students a type of incentive to keep their grades up and stay out of trouble. Like everything, there are things that need to be improved. For example, students are sometimes overwhelmed from not understanding material in class. In my opinion, teachers need to keep in mind that the purpose of learning is to understand, not memorize and throw away. However, this can always be improved. Aside from this, Bishop McDevitt is a great school to attend and prepares you very well.
Bishop McDevitt High School is an unfailing and unchanging tight-knit community if you would so choose to indulge in it. The environment is welcoming and students are always demonstrating their kind and well rounded characters. Administration are friendly and helpful, and staff are just as pleasant. College readiness is nothing special, but using the right resources which are offered you may go above and beyond. Students are always offered as much help as they need for all different areas such as academically, personally, athletically, and socially. Alumni always convey fond memories unprompted. Individual judgement may be made from here.
The school sets every student up for success. The faculty works to make the environment fun and challenging. Everyone is constantly encouraging all of the students to strive for excellence. Many of the teachers work with their students in order to help them achieve goals and pass their class. The administration also holds certain standards for the students, leading to a well structured and organized environment for the student. The only thing I would say was a little bit of a con would be the favoritism in classes and in sports. This will not change the results in the class (that is all up to the students themselves), but will affect the distance you go on the court, field, track, etc.
