Bishop Kelly is a wonderful school that soars high in academics and community. Bishop Kelly works hard to instill the important value of kindness into their students. The school provides an endless stream of opportunities for student to pursue their interests and passions. They offer many students led clubs and athletic teams to participate with. Bishop Kelly also understands the importance of socialization which is why they have set up several areas throughout the school for students to hang out. Recently, someone generously donated a beautiful ebony coated grand piano to Bishop Kelly. The school gave this piano back to the students so that they can gather and share their musical abilities with each other. The teachers are also amazing. Most of my teachers make a daily effort to personally connect with a different student in every class. They want to see their students succeed and provide mountains of support. I feel very appreciated and cared for by Bishop Kelly and its teachers.
I love the aspect of a tight-knit community. At the time of writing, Bishop Kelly has an enrollment of less than 1,000. This means that a student gets the experience of a large high school without feeling lost in the crowd. The opportunities afforded by a preparatory school such as Bishop Kelly are tremendous. From the reputation that it carries across the country to the extensive alumni network, graduates will be well prepared and connected for life after high school. The students are respectful and the faculty is engaged and caring. Bishop Kelly truly achieves its goal of educating the student in mind, body, and spirit.
Bishop Kelly has provided me an exceptional educational experience. However, they need improvements in the following areas; COVID-19 response, Sports, and Diversity. During COVID-19, the school has managed to stay open the whole first semester. However, the administration has allowed contact sports to occur which it ultimately has jeopardized the health and safety of students and staff. To be specific, there have been about 300 students that have been quarantined. The school claims to be proud of their covid numbers, but this is outrageous. Otherwise, the school is exceptional and provides a well rounded education. Just re-consider if you have concerns about COVID. They do not offer an online option, well at least one that ensures the benefits that were "promised" at the beginning of the academic term.
