COVID-19 Update for Prospective Students and Families:
Bishop Guertin received local and national attention for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Called "a model for schools across the country," we have redefined what it means to be a community in the face of adversity. With the end of the 2020-2021 school year, we are proud to say that we were able to spend three quarters of class time in-person. Learn More

Bishop Guertin High School Reviews
Lacking, however, is a balanced emphasis on leadership and excellence. BG inadvertently stresses conformity by pushing a family and community "at all costs" mindset. By definition, leadership and excellence can mean forging your own path, and BG could do a better job of managing the tension between teamwork and individuality.
In our family we try to keep this spirit alive through conversation. We discuss the drawbacks of too much conformity - and why some perspectives should be ignored, even if they come from a place of authority. We also provide meaningful leadership opportunities outside of BG through camps and travel. Teamwork is extremely important but there is always an opportunity to forge your own path. All great leaders have done this - it's core to why they are leaders.
