Big Valley Christian School is fantastic for the amazing friendships and environment that you grow in. The school really focuses on being a Christ-like individual in everything that you do: academics, athletics, and socially. Being a small school it is hard to get all the resources of a large public school and as a result, AP and STEM courses are lacking. Furthermore, due to the small student body, there are little to no clubs. Due to this, a great deal of personal responsibility is required in advancing your education. Looking for volunteer opportunities and going online for help regarding colleges/college essays. For myself, I wish I knew stuff about college in my freshman year instead of the start of my senior year. Overall, Big Valley has made me the person I am today, but there are some qualms regarding the education.

Big Valley is the school where I grew up and the people I attended with became like my family, as many of us were in school for thirteen years together. Almost every teacher I had greatly contributed to my education and truly cared for me as a person, not just about my academics. The only negative aspect of the lack of racial diversity. Almost every student at my school was Caucasian, and I think that due to the lack of cultural diversity, there were very few clubs offered. I now attend a university that is very racially diverse and am able to see the importance of having people from multiple cultures and backgrounds contributing to the campus, and the awareness of other race's experiences and views. Overall I believe that the academics, staff, and support that I received at Big Valley has prepared me to succeed in my college journey and allowed me to walk into my future confidentially.
Overall Big Valley is an excellent school with staff who are dedicated to seeing students succeed. The student to teacher ratio allows for a lot of extra help when necessary. Though there are quite a few classes offered, they aren’t offered more then one class period which makes it very difficult to take all the classes you would like to take. There are quite a few sports available which is great, but the school is lacking in other after school clubs.
