AP Classes can be extremely demanding! I have attended other high schools in the past but the coursework, stress, and pressure placed on students in advanced courses is outstanding. Even the honors courses are extremely demanding. I have heard of many Honors and AP courses having frequent pop quizzes- specifically AP Psych and Honors Pre Calc. Non honors classes are less likely to have pop quizzes. Highly recommend the duel enrollment program or online AP Classes (both can be taken for a fee). Additionally, the school requires a mandatory Government and Econ class to graduate. If you are a transfer student, highly recommend fulfilling these requirements at your current school or taking the classes online. It will make it easier for you! Don’t be afraid to confide in the college center and your counselor for college apps. School has many nice people although some can be rude (kind of a mixed bag). School has great resources like NormanAid which has free therapy and stress management.
BHHS has a great education and good teachers. Academics wise, it's excellent. The only problem is the students. This school is mostly filled with rich or Persian kids and a lot of them are immature with no intentions on trying their best. It's harder to connect with them if you have different values as those(about 70%) that go to SMC, or other community colleges. Otherwise, it's generally a good school.
Administration seems to have no idea what they're doing half of the time and we have been audited by the State of California more than once in the time that I've been here. However, it feels very safe to go to school here and the actual academics are pretty good.
